Minimum Qualifications

Permanent Transfer:

Current New York State Department of Health employee with permanent or contingent-permanent status as a Medicaid Eligibility Examiner 3, Grade 17.

Preferred Qualifications:
Strong organizational skills; Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; some supervisory exp. Experience with NYSOH specific programs including Medicaid, Child Health Plus, and/or the Essential Plan. Experience with prepping file folders for Administrative Hearings.

Duties Description
Reporting to a Health Program Administrator, the incumbent of this position will work closely with Appeals Staff to ensure that individuals receive prompt resolution to their appeals

Such Duties shall include:
Supervise Medicaid Eligibility Examiner 2's; Process expedited decisions including following up with other units to ensure timely processing of those decisions; Perform Quality Assurance Checks of folder prep to ensure accurate and complete folders for Hearing Officers; Perform Level 3 Redaction Edits; Act as liaison between office and third-party vendor for processing mistakes in dismissals and decisions; Assist the Health Program Administrator in annual audits including CCIIO and KPMG; Provide assistance and support to Health Program Administrator as needed; and Other Duties as assigned

For new State employees appointed to graded positions, the annual salary is the hiring rate (beginning of the Salary Range) of the position.

Promotion salaries are calculated by the NYS Office of the State Comptroller in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law, OSC Payroll rules and regulations and negotiated union contracts.
