    SUMMARY

    Under the guidance of the Pharmacy Business Manager and under the supervision of the Pharmacy Director, the Pharmacy Technician In-training will perform the functions of a Pharmacy Technician in training by assisting Pharmacist in filling and labeling patients prescriptions, updating patient personal and insurance information and ensuring accuracy in the prescription filling process.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: including the following. Other duties may be assigned.
    Enters prescription orders into QS1 accurately and efficiently.
    Creates and updates patient's personal profile in EHR including: patient demographics, allergy information, and insurance information.
    Counts 25 prescriptions per hour accurately and efficiently.
    Ensures that patient receives correct prescriptions.
    Answer phone in timely manner.
    Assists Pharmacist with filling and labeling prescriptions.
    Communicates with providers and their staff to obtain refill authorization.
    Knowledge of common medication brands and generic names, doses, and indication to patients and staff.
    Collect cash and/ or credit for payment of prescriptions
    Understanding of medical terminology
    Ability to respect confidentiality and patient data

    Maintains a courteous, helpful and conscientious attitude in dealing with co-workers and patients and their families ensuring professionalism and confidentiality at all times.

    Keeps work area neat and clean.
    Regular and prompt attendance at work.
    All other duties as assigned.

    EXPECTATION OF EMPLOYEE
    Must be enrolled in PSI's Pharmacy Tech Prep Online Employer-based Training Program.
    Must sign up and take PTCB exam within 6 months of hire.
    Pass PTCB exam and obtain licensure within 1 year of hire.
    Maintains a positive and respectful attitude.
    Demonstrates flexible and efficient time management and ability to prioritize workload.
    Meets Departments fast paced, demanding productivity standards.
    Pays strong attention to detail.
    Demonstrates the ability to remain professional while handling a variety of attitudes and personalities from patients.
    Demonstrates the ability to handle multiple interruptions and regain focus.
    Demonstrates effective verbal and written skills. Also computer literate.
    Demonstrates the ability to work as an effective part of a team.
    Possess good customer services skills while keeping patient confidentiality, remaining patient and helpful.
    Detail oriented, problem solving ability, and efficient.
    EDUCATION, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND/OR EXPERIENCE
    High School Diploma or Equivalent. Enrollment in PSI's Pharmacy Tech Prep Online Employer-based Training Program. Computer and Medical Terminology experience preferred.
