    This position is for the University of New Mexico-Gallup Branch located in Gallup, NM, approximately 138 miles west of Albuquerque, NM.


    The University of New Mexico-Gallup invites applications for a twelve (12) month fiscal year position, tenure-track to serve as an Assistant Professor/Assistant Director of Nursing within the Education, Health & Human Services Division.

    We are one of four branch community colleges of the University of New Mexico and serve approximately 2200 students.

    Located in Gallup NM, approximately 138 miles west of Albuquerque, UNM-Gallup is situated in the Four Corners region and near the Navajo Nation, Zuni Pueblo and Hopi Reservation.

    The city of Gallup has a population of 22,000 and the surrounding areas provide an abundance of outdoor recreational activities, various museums and extraordinary cultural vibrancy, while maintaining a small-town feel.

    UNM-Gallup serves a hugely diverse student population with 100+ full time and part-time faculty members.

    We are fully accredited by the Higher Learning Commission offering Associate degrees, selected Bachelor's degrees, Career Technical Education certificate programs, and adult basic education (ABE/GED), workforce training and personal enrichment courses.

    UNM-Gallup serves multiple high school populations including McKinley Academy, Middle College High School and the Center for Career and Technical Education.

    Assistant Professors at UNM-G have career advancement opportunities that are outlined in the UNM Faculty Handbook and faculty union collective bargaining agreement.


    The successful candidate will be expected to teach a 9 credit hour (CH) course load along with the equivalent of 6 CH of administrative duties load in the area of Nursing, assist and support the Director of Nursing in developing, implementing, and evaluating the UNM-Gallup nursing program, maintain an active scholarship/service record (as defined by the UA-UNM CBA), participate in monthly Division meetings and execute other relevant duties as agreed upon in conjunction with the division chair in an annual faculty-chair agreement.

    Success in this position results in efficient and effective instruction for students and compliance with accreditation standards.

    In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through actively practicing inclusive behavior and proactively managing bias.

    The successful candidate must be prepared to work on varied instructional and management responsibilities. Strict regulations and the variety of tasks to be managed contribute to the complexity of the position.

    Qualifications


    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Master's Degree in Nursing.
    • Unrestricted, current RN licensure in New Mexico.
    • Two or more years of clinical nursing experience.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Degree of coursework in Education.
    • Demonstrated teaching experience at a branch/community college or similar institution.
    • Minimum of one year experience supervising employees.
    • Demonstrated ability to work with groups in a collaborative atmosphere.
    • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
