    Description

    This position provides a wide range of support and assistance in the training of Medical and Dental Students. Teaching Assistants (TA) work in the Department of Professional and Medical Education to provide support for faculty in the anatomical laboratories. Other responsibilities include proctoring examination, maintenance the Gross Anatomy Laboratory preparation of cadavers for cremation/burial and attendance record. The TA, is a member of SEIT (Surveillance Evaluation and Implementation Team) which provide detail information of student performance for internal examinations.

    Daily Operations


    • Collects, compiles, distributes and mails (when needed) all tests and then prepares information as needed for other staff and students

    • Assist in the Body Donation Program with mailings, clerical and administrative duties

    • Maintains Blackboard site for class

    • Grades homework assignments and exams

    • Establishes and maintains a database for all students, including a record of all participation including absences, testing and follow-up programs

    • Performs clerical duties, types, duplicates, answers phone; composes correspondence; schedules audio visual equipment and other materials, as needed

    • Maintain computers in classrooms and labs and assist students with hardware and software use

    • Proctor exams

    • Keeps a calendar of all scheduled meetings with students and other activities that are included in the program

    • Proctors students during testing assessment

    • Take class attendance and maintain attendance records

    • Organize and label materials

    • Assist Faculty in the preparation for lecturers

    • Performs other related duties as assigned

    Required Skills

    • Experience working in an office environment and utilizing computers in the conduct of work with knowledge and experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
    • Ability to operate audiovisual equipment
    • Ability to develop and maintain record keeping systems
    • Ability to work with confidential information
    • Ability to plan, schedule and coordinate various educational activities
    • Ability to work with minimum supervision
    • Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with students, staff and faculty members.

    Required Experience

    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is preferred; however (1-3) years of experience of college is acceptable in the biological sciences, social sciences or a related area in an educational, medical or health-related environment is required.
