Instructional/Science of Reading Literacy Coach at TLJ Academies
Basic Function:
The primary role of the Instructional Coach at TLJ Academies is to provide differentiated, job-embedded professional development that enhances teachers' instructional capabilities.
This position aims to continuously improve instructional quality and elevate student achievement through expert-driven coaching and support, with a specific focus on the Science of Reading.
Qualifications:
- Required: Valid Indiana Experience in Teaching, preferably five, in a teaching role with documented effectiveness in instruction and/or coaching.
- Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of TLJ Academies' educational principles, theories, practices, and techniques relevant to lesson planning, classroom instruction, and specifically the Science of Reading.
- Proven expertise in leading professional training sessions focused on the Science of Reading.
- Evidence of positive student performance trends in alignment with Indiana College and Career Standards.
- Demonstrated leadership in schoolbased curriculum development, including participation in Quality Improvement Teams and development of school curriculum and assessments.
- Proven ability in facilitating team processes and problemsolving in educational settings.
Essential Functions:
- Actively participate in and lead all required professional learning initiatives, including afterschool and summer sessions, focused on the District's instructional models and the Science of Reading.
- Utilize data to evaluate and enhance the effectiveness of coaching strategies on adult practice changes and student outcomes.
- Support and implement the School Improvement Plan in consultation with school leadership to foster better instructional practices, with an emphasis on literacy development.
- Exhibit and model highquality teaching behaviors and instructional strategies to educators.
- Guide teams through the teaching and learning cycle, emphasizing data analysis, goal setting, implementation, and practice adjustment.
- Exhibit excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills to foster professional learning communities and assist teams in datadriven problem solving.
- Mentor educators requiring additional professional support, ensuring alignment with individual and group learning needs.
- Commit to personal and professional growth by actively participating in learning communities and sharing expertise with peers.
- Fulfill additional duties as assigned by the Administrator to address specific needs of the school or district.
- Ensure all services comply with federal and state laws, as well as district standards and policies.
Physical Requirements:
- Regular requirements include speaking and hearing clearly.
- Necessary dexterity for handling and operating various tools and equipment.
- Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods; occasionally may involve bending, kneeling, or crouching.
Employment Details:
- Schedule: 195day work year.
- Compensation: Salary range of $55,000 to $70,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
