As an
Avionics Supervisor you will:

Be under the direction of the Director of Operations, and responsible for all aspects of the Avionics Installation/Service department including, but not limited to: financial performance, personnel, engineering and avionics production.


Position Duties:

  • Lead / direct production, installation, and maintenance of systems on Aircraft. This position includes responsibilities for financial performance, personnel development and growth of the team. This position will provide system training to team members as needed to support the growth of team members.
  • Provides direction to department personnel in carrying out avionics' systems maintenance functions.
  • Manages and controls avionics systems modifications and maintenance functions of assigned tasks to customer specifications, FAA standards and Repair Station Manual.
  • Supervises the proper maintenance removal, installation, inspection, testing, adjustment, repairs and modifications of aircraft avionics systems, including but not limited to radio, radar, navigation and cabin entertainment systems.
  • Provides estimates for all avionics maintenance. Monitors and controls maintenance and labor expenses with regard to overtime requirements, plans, budgets and schedules.
  • Interviews, selects and/or recommends hire of employees; provides appropriate training for personnel, recommends pay changes, conducts performance evaluations, recommends pay increase, promotions and terminations.
  • Maintains and controls visibility of status of in work projects.
  • Ensures customer approval is obtained on original and revised estimates to accomplish maintenance on the customer's aircraft.
  • Responsible for communication with customer to advise of maintenance status and any additional maintenance as necessary.
  • Monitors and reports on performance
  • Directs team as needed to stay on target and budget. If necessary, work side by side with his staff to complete the project.
  • Ensures policy to RSM and QCM are followed.
  • Responsible for compliance with FAA regulations while producing quality work and exceptional customer service
  • Oversees the proper removal, installation, inspection, testing, adjustment, repairs and modifications of aircraft avionics systems, including radio, radar, navigation and cabin entertainment systems.
  • Collaborates with other departments at SA to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Available for overtime as needed. (a minimum requirement of 10%)
  • Properly operate and utilize computers and computer software such as eBis/SA Menu and Microsoft products (Word, Outlook, Excel)
  • Plans and schedules department workloads and supervises operations to maximize the effective utilization of employees, equipment and material/supplies within budgetary costs.
  • Responsible for ensuring the profitability of the Avionics Department and SA_VNY overall.
  • Generates revenue and seeks to develop new Avionics business
  • Meet department KPI goals which are: 80% Profitability, Utilization, Gross revenue, Gross profit

20% Leadership:
Retain and engage staff.

  • Performance Dialogue: Plan, Develop, Coach and Reward staff
  • Attends production meetings and general staff meetings and communicates status on labor, deadlines, and delivery.
  • Create, use, and maintain StandardAero documentation
  • Acts as a mentor to team members; provides and creates training as needed to develop avionics team.
  • Continuously improves leadership skills; attends safety training and any required training; and any other training to improves professional and technical knowledge

Minimum Experience & Requirements:

  • Demonstrated (high level) knowledge in Avionics
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools and soldering iron, circuit testers, voltmeters, ammeters and ohmmeters
  • Airframe license and Powerplant license preferred
  • Experience of cabin entertainment systems
  • Must have working knowledge of all forms and documents required to support maintenance service, including, but not limited to Company policy and procedure manuals, FAR's, AD's, Service Bulletins, and Maintenance Manuals.
  • Must be able to read and interpret technical manuals, instructions, blueprints, and drawings.
  • High School diploma or equivalent; Degree in Aviation preferable
  • FCC Repairmen License preferred
  • Knowledge of electronic equipment, computer hardware and software machines, tool
