The Landscape Foreman (LF) is responsible for delivering and installing plants and trees in residential and commercial locations.

The position works as a member of the planting crew, plans the installation process, directs activities of the crew, interacts with the customer to assure a great customer experience, ensures 100% compliance with all HR and safety process, and assures that all installations are done in accordance with Moon Valley guidelines.

The LF is responsible with assuring the proper, efficient, and timely completion of projects, and should be able to operate a variety of equipment and develop a working knowledge of landscaping & horticultural practices.

The LF must be able to maintain safety standards, meet overtime/staffing quotas, enhance customer satisfaction, meet sales goals, and manage planting projects effectively.

This position directly supervises 1 Lead Operator and 3-4 Planting Crew members, as well as overseeing the truck assets and planting projects.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Safely and efficiently driving a flatbed truck (non CDL) with inventory, equipment, tools, and a crew.
  • Overseeing and participating in customer deliveriesandplant (DNP) installation operations.
  • Ensuring that each customer receives outstanding service by providing a safe, clean, friendly DNP visit to customers, while maintaining solid product knowledge and an outstanding customer experience.
  • Ensuring compliance with MVN policies and procedures through crew management, training & coaching.
  • Training and developing the planting crew in all aspects of the installation and the customer visit and directing and monitoring training and development for the crew.
  • Continually evaluating and reacting to performance issues and conducting performance reviews.
  • Ensuring that crews are professional, ethical, safe, and effective at all times.
  • Ensuring all equipment, including the trucks, are properly used, maintained, and cleaned.
  • Reviewing and implementing Installation Work Orders and maximizing effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Meeting productivity and performance goals by training, motivating, mentoring and providing feedback.
  • Ensuring the protection and proper use of MVN trucks, inventory, tools, and equipment.
  • Maintaining outstanding truck cleanliness and condition standards.
  • Dealing with all issues that arise from crews or customers (complaints, grievances, etc.)
  • Being a shining example of good behavior and high performance and the customerface of MVN.
  • Conducting or overseeing all crew safety training including, heat, vehicle, equipment, ergonomics, etc.
  • Maintaining the Truck's supplies and materials stock.
  • Assisting in any logistics/customer service issues that arise.
  • Upselling warranties, plants, services, etc. to customers onsite.
  • Assisting in any administrative issues from customer sales, credit charges, payments, etc. and/or the preparation of any customer "change orders", to clock ins and clock outs, sales transactions, product exceptions, warranty sales, etc.
  • Performing other duties and tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:


  • Clean driving record (with DOT drug & health screen) insurable with MVN's insurers required.
  • At least 2 years of experience as a crew chief, foreman, manager, etc.
  • Experience in a retail, nursery, landscaping, or related environment preferred.
  • Solid management skills along with a basic understanding of HR and sales fundamentals.
  • Understanding of plants, planting, project management, landscaping, and customer service.
  • Excellent customer relation and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Selfdirected and motivated, and able to act in an entrepreneurial fashion.
  • Ability to work independently to complete specific tasks and meet inflexible deadlines.
  • Aptitude in decisionmaking and problem solving.
  • Ability to work well with others and be a leader.
  • Basic computer skills including experience with GPS and POS systems.
  • Strong time management, attention to detail, and follow through.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to coordinate multiple projects/activities simultaneously.
  • Good working knowledge of Arizona native plant communities a plus
