Position Summary:


Under the supervision of the Brownson Board of Directors, this position is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Brownson Country Club outdoor pool facility.

The Pool Director will perform a variety of duties in planning, scheduling, and maintaining the seasonal operation of the pool including oversite of the pool, swim & dive teams, life guards, and snack bar.

Communicating with the members, and above all, have enthusiasm for promoting the pool as a safe, fun, and friendly amenity for the members.


Supervision:

The Pool Director reports to the Brownson Country Club General Manager and the Brownson Board of Directors.


Job Environment:


The environment at Brownson Country Club is focused on providing a high level of service with emphasis continuing to improve the pool experience at the club.

The Pool Director works to create an environment where staff is involved and enthusiastic, with open communications and respect for members, guests, property, and themselves.


Essential Duties:


  • Hires, trains, schedules, supervises, and evaluates lifeguard staff; provides or coordinates staff training; works with employees to correct deficiencies.
  • Instill attention to safety with lifeguard staff as well as with pool members and guests with the culture being safety first and fun second.
  • Enforce safety at the pool among both staff and members.
  • Administer First Aid, CPR, emergency and other safety procedures, as required.
  • Lead the swim and dive team and coordinate the practice and meet schedules.
  • Create a welcoming, highly interactive, and proactive culture.
  • Oversee daily maintenance of the pool and locker rooms.
  • Exceed member expectations in all aspects of the pool, including cleanliness, member service, attention to detail, and effective and timely communication with membership.
  • Communicate with the General Manager and Pool Board regarding safety, staff, facility/maintenance, and member issues/concerns.
  • Prepare pool for opening and closing each season.
  • Performs other appropriate tasks assigned by the General Manager.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings, trainings, and orientations.
  • Attends work on a regular, reliable, and punctual basis.

Education and/or Experience:


  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Physical Education, Recreation/Business Management or Health Sciences.
  • Three years of experience as a Pool Director at a club of comparable size and stature.
  • Maintains all proper certifications and training for self and pool staff.
  • Competitive swimming experience as either a coach or athlete.
  • Lifeguard training and experience teaching swim lessons.
  • Skills in recruiting, supervising, training, monitoring, evaluating and motivating personnel.

Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • Knowledge of all aspects of pool operations, emergency firstaid procedures, and basic principles of customer service.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills and the ability to provide customer service, information, and feedback to the public.
  • Ability to work independently and with the entire Club Team in a fastpaced and highvolume environment
  • Ability to provide outstanding customer service and get along with coworkers, patrons, and supervisors and interact with employees and vendors in a professional manner.

Licenses, Certifications, and Other Requirements:


  • AED/BLS Certification or equivalent.
  • CPR/First Aid/Lifeguard Training.
  • Background check will be required for final applicants.

Physical Requirements:


The following physical abilities are needed to perform the essential duties of this position: carry, pull, push or lift up to 25 lbs.

unassisted, frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, standing, reaching, and feeling; may occasionally climb, crawl, squat, kneel and lift up to 50 lbs.
