Job Summary
The Structure Superintendent is responsible for meeting production goals by effectively managing multiple foremen, subcontractors, and equipment and maintaining safety standards.
Essential Functions
- Manage and direct multiple foremen, equipment, and subcontractors to meet production goals and ensure the operation is safe.
- Create plans and reports that will be used to update schedules.
- Create work plans and create a 3week schedule lookahead.
- Set and meet production goals. Communicate plan, safety, and schedule at weekly meetings.
- Operation/method analysis; always look for more efficient and safer ways to perform tasks.
- Calculate materials/quantities for ordering purposes.
- Build and maintain effective relations with the owner, client, managers, and other employees.
- Ensure good housekeeping/work area, truck, and trailer.
- Understand daily cost / monthly cost reports and projections. Review daily reports and daily diaries.
- Effectively manage crew, equipment, and other resources.
- Report injuries and damages. Take steps to limit vandalism and injuries.
- Ensure ZCC policies are followed. SWPP & EPA compliance.
- Understand the foreman's responsibilities.
- Recruits, interviews, and hires qualified applicants for available positions. Involved all other personnel actions such as discipline, promotions, demotions, and terminations.
- Expert in forming systems, EFCO, DOKA, and Wood. Follow pour rates as prescribed by form manufacturers.
- Understand and teach form cycling/flow.
- Direct finishing operations for structural concrete, flat work, foundations, elevated roadway, and point and pitch and patch.
- Work Safely at elevated heights.

Required Skills & Experience
- 35 years' previous heavy highway, road, and bridge construction experience.
- Medium to large heavy highway, road, and bridge project experience ($10M+) is required.
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a similar discipline is preferred.
- Experience in Mobile Timecard a plus.
- Must be capable, licensed, and approved to drive a company pickup truck or similar vehicle to work sites, offices, and other locations as required to perform job duties.
- Know dirt excavations to support structural activities.
- Understand crane and rigging. Know how to set up a Bidwell and bridge paving. Know prefabricated concrete building materials and installation procedures.
- Knows different types/classes of concrete or rebar as well as the associated testing procedures and tolerances.
- Expert in forming systems, EFCO, DOKA, and Wood.
- Have knowledge of working around existing utilities/utility locates.
- Knowledge of load charts and rigging. Be able to identify changes in scope.
- Know plans and specifications well enough to teach and train others.
- Strong prioritization and organizational skills; detailoriented.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft programs such as Excel and Word.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Dependable, selfmotivated, and taskoriented.
