Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Within a team environment, this position will perform the following responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to reconcile benefits data, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other employee benefits. Develop and maintain reconciliation reports, ensuring timely and accurate reporting. Follow up on reconciliation findings as required. 32%
  • Conduct a thorough review and audit of payroll functions to ensure timely processing. This includes verifying payroll funding, confirming governmental report accuracy, and updating company settings in Workday to align with company policies. Provide guidance to team members regarding audit findings and avoiding future findings 16%
  • Prepare and distribute payrollrelated reports to internal stakeholders, offering insights and analysis as needed. Analyze payroll reports for discrepancies and errors, investigating and resolving issues promptly. 11%
  • Initiate payroll processing quality assurance reviews. Prepare, review, and analyze payroll processing and supporting documentation for internal audit. Assist in identifying training issues and/or problem prone processes to ensure optimal efficiency and errorfree operations. 9%
  • Support Payroll Supervisor by scheduling and organizing training sessions for payroll specialists. This includes updates on payroll policies and procedures, state and federal regulations and tracking of progress on projects or departmental functions. Act as back up to Payroll Supervisor when needed. 9%
  • Work efficiently with payroll system vendor and consultants to resolve any issues in a timely manner, ensuring proper and accurate payroll processing. 7%
  • Prepare audit schedules for both annual financial audit and audits conducted by funders, grantors or other audits such as the audit for the 5500 filing as assigned. 6%
  • Update and maintain employee payroll allocation in payroll system and ensure payroll transactions are posted to the general ledgers accordingly. 6%
  • Create journal entries for payroll funding, payroll taxes, and garnishment payments, making necessary reclassifications as needed. 3%
Non-Essential Duties And Responsibilities

These duties include tasks that are required and comprise less than 5% of daily functions for this job:

  • Analyze and respond to complex matters requiring comprehensive knowledge of payroll policies and procedures.
  • Advise, interpret, answer questions, and provide direction to management and staff on agency rules and procedures, Federal, State, and local laws and regulations involving payroll.
  • Document, update, and implement new payroll procedures as needed. Identify and implement improvements and efficiencies to our internal processes.
  • Perform research and analysis on projects as requested.
  • Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in service meetings, and workshops.
  • Attend, participate, and/or plan department, program, staff and other meetings as necessary.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.
Job Specifications

Minimum Required

  • Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business related field and 2 years of fullcycle payroll work experience for at least 300 employee base OR High School Diploma or equivalent and minimum of 5 years of advanced level fullcycle payroll work experience for at least 300 employee base

  • Proficient computer skills, including comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Suit. Demonstrated experience with computerized accounting systems
