About the Position:

We are currently seeking a Full Time Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA) to join the Anesthesiology department at Highland Hospital. This role will involve 12-hour shifts with varying schedules.

Reporting to the Chair of the Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine, the CRNA will provide anesthesia services for inpatients, emergencies, and on-call situations.

As part of the Anesthesiology team at Alameda Health System (AHS), the clinician will handle various surgeries, procedures, and anesthesia-related tasks.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Under the guidance of an anesthesiologist, the CRNA participates in administering anesthesia through different methods. This includes inhalation, intravenous, regional, and neuraxial techniques. Additionally, they are involved in assisting with intubation and resuscitation of newborns under physician supervision.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Provide anesthesia services as part of the team.
• Conduct patient assessments and administer appropriate anesthesia.
• Assist in post-anesthesia care and keep relevant personnel informed.
• Respond to emergency situations and assist in resuscitation efforts.
• Monitor and maintain anesthesia equipment and supplies.
• Participate in evaluating new anesthesiology techniques and procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Graduate of an accredited Nursing program; Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred; Graduate of a school of anesthesia recognized by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists and the California State Board of Registered Nurses.

Experience: Two years of full-time anesthesia administration experience may substitute educational requirements. Obstetrical and emergency anesthesia experience, as well as skills in newborn intubation and resuscitation, are beneficial.

Licenses/Certifications: BLS/CPR and ACLS certifications required at hire. Nurse Anesthetist certification from the California State Board of Registered Nurses and a valid California RN license are mandatory. Candidates in accredited nurse anesthesia programs may be considered with completion required within 6 months of hire.
