    Job Description Summary


    The position calls for an experienced Data Engineer to join a team and help build and maintain medical information data hubs including associated imaging and imaging workflows and any associated data-mining or other analytical needs.

    The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and maintain scalable data infrastructure and pipelines that enable efficient access to medical information for research and analysis.

    The role may be expected to provide strategic support for data hub implementation, maintenance and quality, as well as, related diagnostic application device workflows as they fundamentally supply the data workflow.

    Position contingent upon funding.

    Job Responsibilities


    • Design and implement scalable data repository, pipelines and ETL processes that extract, transform, and load medical data from various sources into a data hub(s), data hub frameworks, data repositories.
    • Develop and maintain central data repositories for medical information including diagnostic image-related data.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and design data models and schemas to support data analysis, reporting or other required data workflows.
    • Create data integration solutions to combine structured and unstructured data from various sources including ophthalmic devices, mobile applications, etc.,. Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of data through data quality checks and validation.
    • Implement and maintain data security and privacy protocols to ensure the confidentiality and compliance of medical information.
    • Troubleshoot and debug data issues and optimize data processing performance.
    • Stay up-to-date with emerging data engineering technologies and best practices and recommend appropriate solutions for continuous improvement.
    Qualifications

    Minimum B.S.

    in Computer Science, Engineering and minimum 2+ years experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required in the domain of medical data-mining within the medical data domain for research and/or clinical operations.

    Knowledge of clinical workflows, diagnostic imaging and associated IT project management, required. Understanding of data modeling, schema design, and data governance. Proficiency in SQL, script programming and experience with ETL concepts. Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop. Knowledge of data security and privacy regulations such as HIPAA. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities.

    Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, as well as internal and market factors and grade profile.
