We are seeking an Pharmacy Technician / Intake Coordinator to join our constantly growing Vital Care of Baton Rouge team. The Pharmacy Technician / Intake Coordinator will be responsible for communicating with patients and referral sources in a professional manner, verifying insurance eligibility, maintaining accurate referral tracking records, and

Details:

8:30am - 5:30pm Monday - Friday
This is an in-office position with no remote capabilities
Hourly Pay: $18-$20 dependent on experience
Quarterly performance-based incentives
Medical, dental, and vision insurance offered

Responsibilities:

Answer inbound calls and electronic requests from Social Workers, Nurses, Care Coordinators at hospitals and medical facilities across the state.
Input all patient data, prescription orders, insurance and other required information for processing orders
Submit authorization requests for all insurance types
Responsible for outbound patient contact for rescheduling infusions

Requirements:

Active Louisiana pharm tech license
2-3 years of healthcare experience (Home Health intake highly preferred)
Ability to verify insurance eligibility through provider portals
Experience with Windows operating systems, Excel, Word, and Microsoft Outlook.
Strong attention to detail and ability to review and interpret clinical data
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Insurance experience required
Strong verbal skills and telephone presence
Eager to learn and flexibility – this role will require ongoing training of insurance rules and regulations for the wide variety of medical equipment and services that we provide, so a passion for learning is mandatory.
Must be able to work productively without daily supervision
Organized, detailed oriented, and must have the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

Duties:

Manage patient intake procedures and ensure all necessary information is accurately recorded
Coordinate with medical staff to schedule appointments and maintain the appointment calendar
Verify insurance information and communicate coverage details to patients
Answer phone calls and address patient inquiries in a professional and timely manner
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines at all times
Assist in maintaining medical records and updating patient files as needed

Responsibilities include:

Serving as the initial point of contact for new inbound referrals via phone, email, fax, etc.
Receiving all inbound calls and forwarding them to the appropriate team members as needed
Conveying any new information regarding patients in a timely manner to the appropriate team members and documenting in the EMR
Determining if a referral is ready for clinical review or if it is deficient in any way
Collecting, reviewing, and consolidating clinical referral documents for clinical review
Collaborating with the clinical, staffing and marketing team on accepted, pended, or denied referrals
Tracking and following new, existing, and potential readmit patients in coordination with the marketing team
Maintaining appropriate records, files, documentation, etc.
Assisting in the development of new processes within the intake and referral process in collaboration with the
clinical, operations, and marketing teams
