At the Habitat for Humanity ReStore, you have a job with purpose in a positive environment in service to others.

We are seeking a Store leader to oversee a team of 2-4 people in the daily operations of our ReStore thrift store in Middletown.


JOB SUMMARY:
Provide day-to-day oversight of the Middletown ReStore. Drive sales and profits by delivering an exceptional experience to the ReStore's three customer segments - shoppers, donors, and volunteers - while leading with the values and mission of the organization


PART-TIME, WED-SAT, 9:30A - 5:15P (29 HOURS PER WEEK);

Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 2 years' experience supervising and working alongside a successful small team of employees/volunteers in retail sales, preferably in furniture and home goods.
  • Knowledge of used, vintage and antique furniture and furnishings value, with the ability to see value in a wide range of used goods. Previous thrift store experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability in leading and developing Associates in a consistent, positive and safety conscious manner that embodies the values of HFHNCC.
  • Ability to adapt to changing conditions with unexpected shifts in priorities.
  • Initiative represented by a sense of urgency, energy, enthusiasm, attention to detail, and follow up.
  • Ethical leadership demonstrating and expecting consistent high standards of integrity and accountability.
  • Team Building through positive and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to lead by example, including ability to safely lift merchandise, price merchandise, and assist with customers. Position entails occasional bending, kneeling, and reaching, often in awkward or tiring positions. Bulk of time will be spent standing, walking, and otherwise assisting customers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Coordinate store layout and merchandising.
  • Demonstrate and train staff in professional and exceptional service to shoppers.
  • Be knowledgeable of and train staff in effective use of the POS system.
  • Ensure all products are easily and safely accessible to shoppers.
  • Ensure all products are clearly marked and priced to minimize questions from shoppers.
  • Ensure store is "Grand Opening Ready" each day prior to opening through daily cleaning and organizing.
  • Ensure shoppers have easy and consistent access to help from employees and volunteers.
  • Respond to customer complaints and concerns in a timely and professional manner, involving DOR as needed.
  • Understand and communicate to all Associates the expectations for performance and how they contribute to highquality operations and positive experiences for our three customer segments.
  • Assure dropoff donations meet HFHNCC guidelines.
  • Engage with volunteers and make them a unified part of the ReStore team ensuring a fulfilling and meaningful experience.
  • Monitor daily cash transactions and make weekly deposits.
  • Monitor employee recording of time worked.
  • Keep indoor and outdoor facilities clean, professional, and free of any hazards, following accepted safety guidelines.
  • Any other duties or responsibilities as directed.
