    Description
  • Reporting to the Anatomist and Co-Course Director, the Dissector will assist with the dissection and extraction of the vagus nerve and its branches from human cadavers for research purposes. This is a parttime, hourly position funded by an NIH grant.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Performs cadaveric dissection of full-length human vagus nerves and vagal branches in adult donor bodies.
  • Assists in the development of dissection strategies.
  • Assists in the planning and procurement of cadaveric specimens.
  • Takes photographic and video documentation of dissection process.
  • Takes anatomical measurements of pertinent branch points relative to extravagal anatomical landmarks.
  • Produces data documentation.
  • Participates in lab group meetings.
  • Assists in preparation and cleanup of dissection sessions.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • MS, MD/DO, or PhD with minimum three years' dissection and/or surgical experience required.
  • Technical expertise in donor body dissection.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills needed.
  • Must demonstrate superior organizational skills, attention to detail and adaptive work style.
  • Ability to approach challenges with creativity, innovation, and a positive attitude.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
