- Functions independently to assess, diagnose, and treat or recommend courses of treatment for adult diseases, with particular emphasis on disorders of the endocrine system and metabolism.
- Orders, collects, interprets, and evaluates laboratory and other diagnostic tests to assess patient problems and health care needs.
- Formulates and implements comprehensive outcomes-based patient treatment plans based on patient assessments, evidence-based medicine, standards of care, professional practice guidelines and in partnership with physicians when appropriate.
- Treats and examines patients and makes diagnoses for illnesses in the thyroid, pituitary, adrenal and hypothalamus glands.
- Treats diseases and conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, cholesterol imbalances, osteoporosis, and cancers of the endocrine glands.
- Prescribes, recommends and/or employs medical drug therapies or other forms of related therapeutic treatments and procedures.
- Counsels patients and families regarding medical processes, management of health illness/condition, medication, nutrition, exercise, and lifestyle changes that can positively influence their health conditions.
- Adheres to all local, state, and federal laws, regulations, and statutes. Maintains and follows standard quality, safety, environmental, and infection control policies and procedures.
- Monitors the effectiveness of interventions.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program
- Minimum two (2) years of hands-on experience as an Advanced Practice Provider.
- Recent experience in family medicine, internal medicine, and endocrinology
- Current Texas RN licensure or RN licensure with compact privilege from a state that is party to the Nurse Licensure Compact for RNs and LVNs and Texas APRN.
- Current license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the state of Texas.
- Current Nurse Practitioner certification in specialty area of focus
- Current provider card in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS); PALS provider card as required by department and facility.
