    Job Description

    Position: Custodian

    Status: Part-Time

    Reports to: Technical & Facilities Director

    Schedule: Monday to Saturday, flexible hours

    Date: May, 2024

    Salary: $ per hour

    Job Summary: National Dance Institute (NDI) is in search of a Part-Time Custodian to join its Facilities Team at our Harlem Location. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of various cleaning techniques and equipment, hands-on experience in housekeeping, and building operations.

    Responsibilities:

    • General cleaning of the building/studios to ensure they are well-maintained.
    • Vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping floors.
    • Cleaning and stocking restrooms.
    • Ensuring doors are securely locked and the building is protected after hours.
    • Collecting and disposing of trash as well as cleaning sidewalks.
    • Performing snow and ice removal when necessary.
    • Notifying supervisors of any significant repairs needed.
    • Conducting preventive maintenance tasks.
    • Handling basic repairs and maintenance duties.
    • Assisting in setting up Studios/Rooms for special events.

    Qualifications:

    • Minimum 2 – 5 years of facilities maintenance experience.
    • Proficient in the safe and proper use of custodial equipment.
    • Maintains high cleanliness standards.
    • Capable of basic maintenance, building repairs, cleaning, and janitorial work.
    • Skilled in routine maintenance procedures.
    • Ability to lift items weighing over 50 pounds.
    • Demonstrates maturity of judgment and behavior.
    • Effective communication and professionalism when interacting with colleagues and other departments.
    • High School diploma or equivalent education.
    • Flexible work schedule, including Saturdays.
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or in a team.
