Maine Youth Action Network (MYAN) is seeking a Youth Workforce Development Coordinator to join our team supporting the Gateway to Opportunity (G2O) and other youth-workforce development programming.


The Gateway to Opportunity (G2O) program connects low-income young people with paid-workplace learning projects at various host sites throughout the state.

The Youth Workforce Development Coordinator supports statewide and local youth engagement programs and initiatives that build young people's resilience and strengthen youth leadership on issues of public health, social justice, youth employment, and restorative practices.

The Coordinator is responsible for integrating local and statewide curriculum development, training, and technical assistance initiatives for adults, organizations, systems, and youth about the following topics:

positive youth development, restorative practices, developmental relationships, youth employment best practices, and health equity strategies.

This position will support in coordinating and facilitating statewide youth programming initiatives, collaborating and liaising with school districts and community partners; supporting statewide strategy and initiatives with MYAN statewide team and district-level stakeholders; co-planning of annual Youth Leadership Conference for youth and adults; and co-facilitating youth-adult partnership trainings as needed.


Schedule:
Full-time 40 hour/week, hourly position. Schedule is flexible with some afternoons and overnights required.

Location:
Hybrid work optional, with access to office space in Portland, ME. Some in-work required, statewide.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in education or human services related field (i.e. Social Work, Psychology, or Public Health) with 3+ years of work experience in relevant field (e.g. education, public health, or youth development) OR High School Diploma with 5+ years of work experience in related field required.
  • Demonstrated excellence and regular practice with some combination of the following is required:
group facilitation, positive youth development practices, and teaching/learning with both adolescents and adult learners.

  • Comfortable working in a fastpaced environment.
  • Ability to travel throughout the state of Maine, including some overnights.
  • Position requires some evening and weekend hours.
  • Preferred knowledge of positive youth development, youthadult partnerships, workforce development best practices, and health equity strategies.
  • Preferred knowledge of restorative practices, socialemotional learning, traumaresponsive practices, and/or social justice work in some combination.
  • Excellent facilitation and training skills with both youth and adults in multiple settings.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
  • Ability to maintain appropriate boundaries.
  • Experience with coordinating a team to plan and implement multistage communitybased work.
  • Competent in working with multiple partners and in soliciting input.
  • Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exhibits extensive software skills and Internet research abilities.
  • Proficient in interpersonal communication.
  • Experience working with diverse populations, including engaging geographically isolated youth, indigenous youth, LGBTQ youth, youth of color, and/or youth living in poverty.
  • Must not be on the state or federal suspension and disbarment list.
  • Must be able to exert moderate physical effort with frequent physically active trainings and meetings with youth and adults, driving, typing and occasionally lifting material weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Driving may be necessary to attend meetings and trainings and for the occasional need to meet with clients offsite and within the program service area. This may include transportation of clients or driving to agency location to complete work._ A good driving record is required._
