DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Alarm Rationalization: Lead and facilitate alarm rationalization workshops with cross-functional teams to systematically review, prioritize, and optimize alarm settings based on industry best practices and regulatory requirements.

Alarm Management System Configuration: Configure and optimize Alarm Management Systems to implement rationalized alarm settings and ensure seamless integration with control systems.

Alarm Performance Monitoring: Develop and implement strategies for continuous alarm performance monitoring, analysis, and reporting to identify opportunities for further optimization and improvement.

Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive documentation of alarm rationalization activities, including alarm philosophy, rationalization rationale, and associated procedures. Generate regular reports to communicate key performance indicators and progress to stakeholders.

Alarm Management Integration: Integrate advanced alarm management features into High Performance HMIs to prioritize critical alarms, provide contextual information, and facilitate rapid operator response to abnormal situations.

HMI Design and Development: Lead the design and development of High Performance HMIs for industrial control systems, focusing on intuitive layout, effective information presentation, and user-centric interaction design principles.

HMI Optimization: Analyze existing HMIs to identify opportunities for improvement in clarity, efficiency, and usability. Implement enhancements and optimizations to streamline operator workflows and reduce cognitive load.

Advanced Visualization Techniques: Utilize advanced visualization techniques, including trends, graphics, and process animations, to convey complex system information effectively and enhance operator understanding.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with engineering, operations, maintenance, and safety teams to understand process dynamics, operational requirements, safety criticalities to inform alarm rationalization decisions effectively and user preference to inform HMI design decistions.

Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, guidelines, and regulatory requirements related to alarm management and process safety.

Training and Knowledge Transfer: Provide training and knowledge transfer sessions to operations and engineering personnel to enhance understanding of alarm rationalization principles, foster a culture of alarm management excellence, ensure effective utilization of High Performance HMIs and prove best practices in HMI design and usage.


QUALIFICATIONS:


Education:

-
Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or related field.


Experience/Skills:


  • Proven experience (5+ years) in alarm rationalization, control systems, or process automation within industrial environments (oil and gas, chemical, power generation, etc.).
  • Solid understanding of alarm management standards, such as ISA18.2 and EEMUA 19
  • Familiarity with control system platforms (DCS, PLC, SCADA) and their alarm configuration capabilities.
  • Analytical mindset and problemsolving skills to identify and resolve alarmrelated issues effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and deliver training sessions.
  • Knowledge of process safety concepts (SIL, HAZOP, LOPA) is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Strong effective written and excellent oral communication skills, including strong presentation skills.
