UCSF Benioff Children's Physicians (UBCP) is a multispecialty physician foundation, and an associated clinically integrated network.

Our primary goal is to foster physician collaboration to deliver the most advanced maternal and pediatric care throughout Northern California and beyond.

We have Pediatric and Adolescent Care, After Hours Care, Ophthalmology, and OB-GYN clinics located throughout the San Francisco Bay area.

Under the direction of the Sr.

Director of Operations, the Clinical Manager is responsible for the operational management and day to day general supervision of his or her assigned Department.

The successful manager will assume responsibility for ensuring or supporting the delivery of quality patient care to the satisfaction of patients, physicians, and staff.

The incumbent will remain abreast of financial and growth goals for the department and work closely with the practice director to plan for continued improvement in clinical and financial performance.

Additionally, works collaboratively with Physician Leadership for the provision of quality patient care.

  • Reports to Sr. Director of Operations
  • Supervises all clinical operational and administrative functions of care center staff.
  • Works closely with the Physician leadership

- **Essential Functions**:

  • Productivity/Efficiency:
  • Assesses methods and processes and recommends ways to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ensures the practice has properly trained staff in sufficient numbers to always provide effective and efficient staff coverage, including backup plans for sick leave and vacation.
  • Ensures staff prioritize work appropriately.
  • Manages time reporting and scheduling, includes reviews and approval of department staff timecards, using timekeeping system, and approves all employee PTO requests.
  • Appropriately onboards staff, following UBCP and EEOC guidelines, background, and reference checks, etc.
  • Provides supportive counsel and technical expertise to staff as needed.
  • Evaluates and identifies clinical staff development needs.
  • Identifies and addresses performance and behavioral problems of staff, counsels, and disciplines according to policy on corrective action.
  • Conducts monthly staff meetings.
  • Maintains effective and consistent communication with staff, physicians, patients, and families.
  • Mediates or assists in the mediation of conflicts, differences, and misunderstandings between and amongst patients, staff, and physicians; identifies potential problem areas and proactively address issues.
  • Identifies equipment requirements for departments; research for ordering of equipment and supplies and makes recommendations.

- **Technical Skills**:
  • Strong computer skills (especially Microsoft Office tools) required.
- **Communication (Oral and Written)**:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Facilitates communication among physicians, staff, and administration.
  • Convenes meetings, distributes memoranda, and schedules inservices as necessary.
  • Establishes and implements, communicates, and enforces policies and procedures that address daily operations of the practice.
  • Ability to demonstrate diplomacy in communication and conflict resolution techniques.

  • Supports leadership and organizational strategic plan direction.
  • Trains staff in their daytoday responsibilities as needed.
  • Fosters teamwork and promotes collegial collaboration among all team members.
  • Maintains positive working relationships with the community, medical staff, and all levels of supervision and staff and mediates conflict successfully within department.

- **Quality and Service**:
  • Monitors and addresses potential risk management and quality issues in a timely manner.
  • Addresses patient/customer complaints in an effective and timely manner.
  • Maintains standards of service, productivity, safety, security, and infection control.
  • Ensure E.H.R. [Electronic Health Record] optimization within care centers.
  • Coordinates remedial training and annual mandatory education, including compliance, safety, and workplace issues.
  • Handles patient complaints, referring those complaints which cannot be resolved locally to the identified department staff member.
  • Participate in initiatives to achieve performance on quality metrics set forth by the organization.
