BASIC PURPOSE:

This position is responsible for assisting with the operation of the communications department of a comprehensive NCAA Division II athletics program which enhances and supports the student's liberal arts education in support of the mission of the University.


ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Is the primary athletic communications contact for a number of the University's intercollegiate athletic programs, as assigned by the Assistant Director of Athletic Communications and Marketing.
  • Designs, writes, edits, and produces brochures, game programs, and printed materials for the department, following Assumption University's brand messaging and graphic standards.
  • Writes and submits news releases and produces information for the media regarding newsworthy sports items.
  • Performs accurate statistical analyses of studentathlete and team performances and reports results to staff personnel and representatives.
  • Assists with media coverage of games and game management for all intercollegiate sports (i.e., scorers, timers, and other professional personnel).
  • Assists in the maintaining of organized and accurate historical records.
  • Assists in producing and maintaining all aspects of photography (i.e., team and individual photographs, special events, etc.) by using current technology (i.e., digital, etc.).
  • Manages and directs student workers as assigned.
  • Helps manage and update the Athletic Department website by providing data and materials for general viewing and uptodate scores and schedules, rosters, and historical materials utilizing current technology.
  • Assists in the coordination of all mediarelated responsibilities for a number of home athletic events.
  • Prioritize attendance at university events such as Student/athlete Candlelight, Hall of Fame Dinner, Athletics Awards Night, Orientation, Graduation, etc.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Athletic Communications and Marketing.

Requirements:


  • Must be willing to contribute actively to the mission of the University as well as show respect for the Catholic and Assumptionist identity of Assumption University.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Strong written and oral communication.
  • Design experience preferred.
  • 12 years of athletic communications experience required.
  • Demonstrated skill with current technologies.

Additional Information:


SCOPE:

  • Maintains ongoing contacts with representatives of the various media outlets; communicates regularly with university students, faculty, and staff.
  • Helps maintain an extensive photographic and video library of all studentathletes, past, and present.
  • Prepares and submits news releases throughout the year for their assigned sports.
