Minimum Qualifications


Applicants must:


  • Possess a valid high school diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Be able to maintain physical fitness and sufficient strength to control struggling or disabled swimmers
    .
  • Be able to communicate clearly and concisely
    .
  • Possess basic skills in the use of a computer and administrative support software to prepare correspondence and reports.
  • Successfully meet the State of Florida good moral character and Level II background screening standards (Florida State Statutes
    .

Desirable Qualifications


Preferred applicants:


  • Have some supervisory experience as a lifeguard at a public swimming pool
    .
  • Are skilled in swimming, rescue work, resuscitation and first aid
    .
  • Have completed the National Swimming Pool Foundation's Certified Pool Operators course.
  • Possess the American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Trainer and American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Trainer Certificates.
  • Have considerable knowledge of the methods and techniques related to teaching swimming, water safety and lifesaving classes
    .
  • Are able to organize and direct the activities of swimming pool employees.
  • Have experience using ActiveNet, KRONOS, and Oracle iProcurement computer software programs.
