    FIELD / SHOP SERVICE TECHNICIAN

    Job Description

    A Cal-Lift, Inc. Service Technician should be able to perform maintenance, troubleshooting, testing and repairs to a wide variety of equipment makes and models. The primary objectives of the Service Technician are (1) the proficient repair & service of the customer's equipment, (2) to maintain good communication and working relationships with customers, peers and management, (3) to represent and sell the entire company, (4) to be profitable with direct labor billing, (5) work within all safety guidelines established by Cal-Lift, Inc. and OSHA.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


    • Gather and present accurate equipment information (make/model, VIN, engine serial number, mileage) to the Service Supervisor in order to assure proper coverage is determined.


    • Utilize troubleshooting software and troubleshooting trees to diagnose cause of failure and document specific values when requested.


    • Work with Service Supervisor to draft accurate repair estimates (parts/labor).


    • Perform engine & miscellaneous repairs and service on a wide variety of equipment.


    • Perform advanced trouble shooting and repairs on: electrical, hydraulic & pneumatic systems on all types of forklifts and yard spotters that Cal-Lift, Inc. sells and services.


    • Train other employees as needed.


    • Maintain a profitable billing level.


    • Follow all Service Department procedures


    • Complete all service documentation in a timely, accurate fashion.


    • Communicate all options to customers before proceeding with work.


    • Have the necessary tools to perform repair and scheduled service work.


    • Maintain a clean and orderly vehicle (inside and outside).


    • Maintain an accurate assigned parts inventory.


    • Report all accidents promptly, regardless of fault.


    • Account for 100% of available time during working hours.


    • Must be willing to work overtime when necessary.


    • Must be willing to perform all other duties as assigned.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • 3+ years of experience as a Material Handling Service Technician or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Complete set of technician tools.

    PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES OF THE POSITION:


    • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, repeatedly throughout the workday.


    • Must be able to carry up to 50 lbs. occasionally.


    • Must be able to pushes and pulls up to 50 lbs. occasionally.


    • Must be able to climb, reach, bend and twist occasionally.
