On-Call Archaeological Field Technicians in the Northern California Area, including
San Francisco, Sacramento, Oakland, San Jose, and Petaluma.

Who You Are
You hold a Bachelor's degree or higher in archaeology/anthropology/paleontology or related field. You have a demonstrated ability to use app-based software for field recordation and mapping.


You are familiar with working on active construction sites, completing
DPR forms, are knowledgeable of archaeological materials common to the region, and have a
minimum of six months of field experience or relative academic field experience in Northern California.

You will participate in compliance monitoring and reporting activities for on-going construction projects; you will work near heavy equipment. You possess a valid CA driver's license, a clean driving record, and have experience driving 4WD vehicles off-road.


What You Will Do for ESA

  • Monitor construction activities and identify archaeological and/or paleontological resources;
  • Effectively communicate with construction crews and project personnel;
  • ESA has established multiple pay ranges tailored to the economic factors in the geographies in which ESA staff reside. For this position, the range _
    _is $23 $32/hour __based on our anticipated hiring locations as noted in the above job details. Actual compensation is also determined by several factors including but not limited to an individual's related experience, education, skills, and the city in which the applicant lives._

Our Cultural Resources Team includes pre-contact and historical archaeologists, geoarchaeological specialists, tribal consultation specialists, architectural historians, historians, and paleontologists that provide expertise for many local, state, and federal agencies throughout California.
