Position Summary


The Assistant Director of Security would assist the Director of Security and Safety in the effective administration of Club security, accident and theft prevention, emergency/disaster planning, fire and earthquake safety and parking lot operations.

In the Director's absence he/she would manage security personnel and provides membership with a warm and hospitable environment while ensuring safety and security.


Position Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director of Security with daily operations of the security department including the scheduling and delegation of tasks for security personnel.
  • Recruits, selects and evaluates security personnel. Makes recommendations for pay rate adjustments. Documents and coaches all performance issues in accordance with LACC employee handbook.
  • Assist with the preparation and administers operating budget for security department.
  • Assist with the development of departmental policies and standards of operation to ensure a safe and secure environment for members, guests, vendors, staff and surrounding areas. Develops training programs for security personnel that ensure policies are enforced and that supports growth and continual improvement of team members.
Enforcement and Prevention Responsibilities

  • Directs routine patrols of Club property to prevent crime, protect life and property, and to create a hospitable and safe environment for members and guests.
  • Controls admittance and exits of members, guests, employees and vendors to Club property. Establishes procedures to control the protection of club property.
  • Assist the Director of Security with maintaining and distributes records of all incidents regarding criminal, accident or safety issues.
  • Monitors and reviews CCTV system on a regular basis and investigates and reports any suspicious activity.
  • Liaison and communicates with municipal and state law enforcement agencies and fire department.
  • Evaluate and Monitor Club's security systems including fire, earthquake and property alarms.
  • Report any maintenance issues to engineering department.
  • Evaluate and make recommendations for the safety of the Club's physical plant including lighting, surveillance and locks.
  • Reviews event details and maintains adequate security for Club events.

Assistant Director of Security and Safety Responsibilities:

  • Assist the DOSS with maintenance, review and update of the Club's emergency procedures manual, policies and operating systems.
  • Assist the DOS conducting periodic educational programs for management and staff in the areas of disaster planning, crime and fire prevention and first aid/CPR/AED. Conducts drills and routine safety inspections to ensure and test the readiness of staff and systems for emergencies.
  • Maintains all emergency supplies including AED machines.
  • Investigate and analyze reported violations of safety rules and recommend corrective actions.
  • Keep abreast of local, state and federal legislation pertinent to Club safety.

Specific Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Formal education or equivalent experience in criminal justice of law enforcement.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in the security of personnel and property.
  • Experienced and knowledgeable in security and law enforcement, crime prevention, public safety / CERT training, life safety training, OSHA compliance requirements.
  • Ability to supervise parking lot operations and control flow of traffic.
  • Welcoming and hospitable personality for members and guests, and cooperative with other departments and staff members.
  • Proven leader who can accomplish goals through teamwork, training, coaching and leading by example.
  • Knowledgeable of technologies which enable the effective administration of security measures.
  • First Aid & CPR certification encouraged but not mandatory

Education

  • High School graduate, or have the equivalent such as a GED or California High School Proficiency Examination

Experience

  • Must have minimum of 3 years previous experience as a police officer, military police officer or security guard
