    The Residency Program Director (PD) has responsibility, authority, and accountability for: administration and operations of the residency/fellowship program; teaching and scholarly activity; resident/fellow recruitment and selection, evaluation, and promotion of residents/fellows, and disciplinary action; supervision of residents/fellows; and resident/fellow education in the context of patient care as required by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) program requirements. The PD is responsible to the Designated Institutional Official (DIO) and Graduate Medical Education (GME) Committee as required by ACGME.

    Education

    • Required: Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from a Medical School recognized by the North Carolina Medical Board.
    • Also, medical degrees from other countries that are equivalent to the United States MD or DO degrees from a Medical School recognized by the North Carolina Medical Board.

    Experience

    • Required: Must have specialty expertise and at least three years of documented educational and/or administrative experience, or qualifications acceptable to the applicable ACGME Review Committee.

    Licensure/Certification/Listing

    • Required: License Must have or be eligible for an NC Medical License. Must have or be eligible for Cone Health Medical Staff credentialing. Must include current certification by an ABMS or AOA specialty board. Must maintain current certification in the specialty for which they are the program.
