SUMMARY:
Serve as administrative assistant to the Director and support the Next STEP program in communicating information, problem solving, and completing tasks related to material acquisition, cash handling, record keeping and building permits

Salary Range:
$17.21-$21.18ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Other duties may be assigned.

Assists the Longley School Director to identify challenges and find solutions related to operations at Next STEPCoordinates the scheduling of meetings between mental health providers and studentsAssists the Family Engagement Coordinator and Tree Street Anchor at Next STEP in family outreach efforts for events, family-teacher conferences, and other logisticsManages PowerSchool functions for the Next STEP program, such as attendance/course changes, grade closing, and report card printingCoordinates with LPS nutrition, transportation, and technology departments to ensure Next STEP students are receiving full access; works with the Longley School Director to address issues as they arise.

Types correspondence, letters and memos, purchase orders, check requests, forms, etc.
Answers telephones, responds to routine questions, and routes calls to appropriate persons.

Assists with the compiling and distributes monthly and annual reports including staff attendance, student attendance and calendar of events using Google Suite and other district platformsAssists with visitors, new parents, and students; answering questions; resolving student problems.

Schedules requested conferences and facilitating use of building by external groups.
Serves a confidential secretary to the Director and Next STEP programsAssists books for staff, student and building accounts.
Makes and records deposits.
Maintains school/student records.

Acts as liaison between school and community, principal, parents, staff and studentsAssists the Next STEP program in compiling and distributing consistent reports on attendance and other education-related dataPrepares payroll certification.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); plus experience in general office work and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and School Committee policies.
