- Manages and leads nurses and professional staff members in collaboration with the Director of Inpatient Services and Program Director. Oversees policies and procedures to guarantee efficient and effective delivery of services and meets regulatory compliance for the department(s).
- Ensures employees understand the performance standards expected of them.
- Identifies issues or problems and appropriately addresses the resolution of conflicts arising from patients, their families, or conflicts within the care delivery team, utilizing negotiation, consensus building and or constructive and cohesive advice.
- Promotes a sense of team spirit by creating a culture of mutual respect and high-performance expectations among all team members.
- Assists in strategic planning by contributing and implementing best practice standards and facilitating changes with processes or procedures at the department level. Coaches and guides the team to continuously seek ways to improve patient care and improve as a team.
- Participate in and conduct annual appraisals. Collaborate and oversee competency requirements are met. Management responsibilities include hiring, training, and education, developing, scheduling, assigning work and managing performance, and retention. Ensure adequate staffing resources are available to care for the patient population.
- Assists in financial management activities and budget preparation. With guidance, monitors the budget for variances and suggests appropriate opportunities for improvement or correction.
- Collaborates to maintain ISDH, ACHC, CARF, and CMS survey readiness. Gathers performance audits, reviews findings, and assists in the analysis of performance improvement utilizing a variety of software systems such as the patient event management system, audits, quality indicators, and unit-based councils.
- Provides direct patient care on an as needed basis.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Minimum: Bachelor of Science from an accredited school of Nursing
- Minimum: Three (3) or more years of Medical/Surgical or Acute Rehab unit experience.
- Preferred: Three (3) years Management experience in multiple skill levels in a clinical setting.
- Basic Life Safety (American Heart Association)
- ACLS (American Heart Association)
