POSITION OVERVIEW


A United Way Ambassador is a fundraising professional hired for a short-term assignment to support United Way's corporate partners and the annual fundraising campaign.

Ambassadors have a passion for United Way's mission that they bring to the planning and implementation of employee giving campaigns.

Ambassadors directly manage a portfolio of small campaigns and provide support on larger campaigns.


CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage a portfolio of 2030 corporate partner accounts, which includes extensive research and fundraising work with employee and executive leaders to lead campaigns within their companies.
  • Coordinate inperson campaign plans and activities, and occasional virtual campaign plans and activities.
  • Schedule, plan, create PowerPoint presentations, draft talking points and scripts, and produce a run of show for inperson and virtual campaign activities.
  • Implement inperson and virtual campaign fundraising activities such as hosting kickoff events, organizing employee contests, moderating panel discussions, and facilitating Q&A.
  • Demonstrate or develop a comfort with soliciting financial contributions over the phone and during inperson and virtual meetings.
  • Consistently use the UWMC database to maintain accurate records of constituent information and communications and work with United Way's eCampaigns Team to facilitate online giving campaigns.
  • Learn and make use of United Way campaign season messaging in written and verbal communications.
  • Identify and research potential corporate, foundation, and individual donors and produce succinct briefing documents that outline the opportunities.
  • Participate in mandatory 2week training (partially inperson, partially virtual) in late July/early August.
  • Performs administrative and other responsibilities as assigned by the management team.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or 23 years of equivalent experience in fundraising, account management, or sales. Video production and theatre experience is a plus.
  • Strong public speaking, presentation, and facilitation skills; Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
  • Strong technical skills and proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel. Database experience preferred. PowerPoint and white boarding software expertise is a plus.
  • Experienced and comfortable in virtual platforms, such as Zoom, WebEx, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Skype, etc.
  • Flexibility around attending and conducting both inperson and virtual fundraising events and able to manage wardrobe as appropriate to fit environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem solving, critical thinking, and judgment skills required.
  • Possess a collaborative spirit, as well as the ability to multitask and prioritize concurrent projects and daytoday tasks within a fastpaced environment.
  • Willingness to work both inperson and virtually (Tuesdays/Wednesdays are mandatory inoffice days)
  • Must be able to work nontraditional hours and demonstrate productivity while working remotely.
  • Maintains confidential information and adheres to privacy policies.
  • Ability to travel to inperson fundraising events in the greater Chicago area; reliable transportation is a plus but not strictly required.
