Salary:

Lecturer A/2 Full-Time Equivalent Salary Range: $5,007 – $6,359 per month
Lecturer B/3 Full-Time Equivalent Salary Range: $5,925 – $12,594 per month
Lecturer C/4 Full-Time Equivalent Salary Range: $6,500 – $13,831 per month
Lecturer D/5 Full-Time Equivalent Salary Range: $8,184 – $14,487 per month

Anticipated hiring range is generally near the minimum of the range based on education and experience. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank.

Priority Review Date: 4/19/2024; applications received after that date may be considered until position is filled.

Position Summary:

The Department of English seeks a temporary lecturer in linguistics for the academic year, with the potential for ongoing appointments. The candidate must teach courses in second language acquisition, English grammar, and general linguistics. Particularly, candidates supporting first-generation and underrepresented students are of interest. We look for instructors predominantly for in-person teaching.

Minimum Qualifications:

The minimum requirement is a Ph.D. in Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, or a related field focusing on second language acquisition. Candidates close to completing their doctorate may be considered, but the degree must be finished before the academic year begins in August 2024.

Preferred Qualifications:

Eligible candidates may specialize in any linguistics area but must be able to teach undergraduate-level courses across various field areas and graduate-level courses in second language acquisition theory and teaching methodology. Preferred qualifications include language teaching expertise, curriculum development experience, and a background in teacher education, with a clear commitment to diversity in teaching, scholarship, or service.

Responsibilities:

The load is a minimum of four courses per semester. Teaching includes undergraduate courses in ENGL within the candidate's expertise and graduate courses in EDSL in second/foreign language teaching, based on individual qualifications and department needs.
