    Description:
    Our school district in Franklin is seeking a skilled and dedicated Sign Language Interpreter to join our team.

    The ideal candidate will have expertise in American Sign Language (ASL) and a passion for facilitating effective communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and their peers, teachers, and staff.


    Responsibilities:
    Provide sign language interpretation and transliteration services for students who are deaf or hard of hearing in educational settings
    Facilitate communication between students and teachers, ensuring that classroom content is accessible and comprehensible
    Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and other educational professionals to support the learning needs of students with hearing impairments
    Adapt sign language interpretation to accommodate various grade levels and subject areas
    Assist with the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and accommodation plans
    Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress and services provided
    Foster a positive and inclusive environment that promotes the social and emotional development of students with hearing impairments


    Qualifications:
    Valid Tennessee State Sign Language Interpreter certification
    Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
    Experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter in an educational setting, preferably in schools
    Knowledge of deaf culture and the unique needs of deaf and hard-of-hearing students
    Strong interpersonal and communication skills
    Empathy, patience, and a commitment to supporting students with hearing impairments
    Ability to adapt sign language interpretation to the academic and social contexts of the school environment
