Essential Functions:

The District Court Constables are official representatives of the court whereas they serve civil process.

The constable for the Catonsville District Court is responsible for posting rents/warrants on each property address where a case was filed, signing off on all rents and warrants filed, scheduling and performing evictions for properties in the area, and serving writ of summons cases for Baltimore County.

Constables are assigned primarily to a specific district but may be required to work in all districts as needed and/or may be required to work evenings and weekends.


Education:

High school diploma (or GED equivalent).


Experience:


At least one (1) year of work experience, preferably in court operations, or in the fields of criminal justice, Parole and Probation, legal or financial services.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment.

Knowledge of alpha and numerical filing system.

Knowledge of basic legal terminology and able to communicate effectively using such with court personnel and ancillary agencies.

Knowledge of standard legal forms and documents used in the Maryland District Courts.

Ability to operate a personal computer.


Ability to communicate effectively with the public and provide information in a polite and efficient manner both in person and on the phone.

Ability to maintain and use a detailed filing system.

Ability to verify scanned documents from other co-workers.

Ability to exercise tact and understanding in pressured situations.

Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
