How to Apply:


Qualifications:


  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a grocery retail setting, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or operations role.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Knowledge of grocery products, merchandising techniques, and inventory management.
  • Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Physical requirements:


  • Continuous hand manipulation including, grasping, pushing, pulling and fine manipulation
  • Reaching above and at shoulder level
  • Standing, walking, bending up to 6 hours per day
  • Walking on uneven surfaces
  • Lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
  • Driving moving equipment (Forklift / Power jack)
  • Working near hazardous equipment (Baler, trash compactor)
  • Exposure to dust, gas, fumes (Receiving dock)
  • Exposure to extremes in temperature (Coolers)
  • Working at heights (Step stool or ladder)

Responsibilities:


As an Assistant Grocery Manager at Gelson's, you will play a key role in supporting the daily operations of our grocery department by directing our dedicated team to provide the highest standards of service to our valued customers.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Supervise and support grocery department staff, ensuring a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Provide excellent customer service by assisting shoppers with product inquiries, locating items, and resolving any customer concerns.
  • Collaborate with your team to implement effective merchandising strategies, including product displays, promotions, and signage.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate inventory levels, monitoring product expiration dates, and coordinating replenishment orders.
  • Place and receive product orders, ensuring accuracy and proper storage of incoming merchandise.
  • Monitor product quality, freshness, and presentation on shelves, removing any damaged or expired items.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and health and safety regulations.
  • Embrace new challenges and be a flexible team player, taking on responsibilities as needed.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required.
