Job Summary:

Our Family of Systems (FOS) Sr. Mission Assurance Lead (MAL) in Advanced Products and Systems (APS), will support U.S. and/or foreign programs within the portfolio at our
El Segundo, CA location. Responsibilities include promoting and executing with a meaningful strong quality mindset, practices, knowledge sharing, and collaboration. This individual will assist in implementation of Mission Area strategic quality improvements across contracts.


This is a hybrid role.


This role will work to ensure the effective implementation of Quality and Mission Assurance requirements of the programs, and interface with U.S.

Government Customers, Foreign Customers, Suppliers, and our internal Raytheon Quality team.

The FOS portfolio includes contracts in the following Integrated Product Development System (IPDS) phases:
design and development, production.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:


  • Interface with the program quality teams, programs, customers, and supporting Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), supporting technical quality and financial performance, and compliance to Raytheon procedures and contractual requirements.
  • Must have the ability to manage and impact across multiple levels of stakeholders, as it is vital to the success of this role.
  • Responsible for quality of delivered products and services to our customers, stakeholders of quality risks, uncertainties and opportunities, a key team member in resolution of customer expectations.
  • Responsible for developing and implementing strategic and tactical Mission Assurance plans that will closely affect the program's implementation and influence.
  • Responsible for improving processes or systems using significant conceptualizing, reasoning, and interpretation skills.
  • Monitor / lead root cause corrective action (RCCA) and Failure Review and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) activities for systemic issues and to ensure extensive RCCA.
  • Interpret command media in compliance to work being performed.
  • Implement product quality strategies using resources such as Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Generation of new Cost of Quality (CoQ) projects to reduce costs on the program.
  • Coordinate and perform special program investigations and audits as required
  • Support implementation of APQP as applicable.

Basic Qualifications:


  • Typically requires Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and eight (8) years of engineering experience. (six (6) years of experience with a Master's degree in STEM).
  • Working experience with Quality Management Systems IS0 9001, AS9100, AS9102, AS9145 and quality processes and resources.
  • Working experience with quality tools, to include Pareto Analysis, cause/effect diagrams, and process mapping.
  • Working experience in providing technical program support for manufacturing and/or design processes.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP).
  • Technical understanding of, Production Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), Statistical Process Control (SPC), Control Plans, and Process Capability Assessments.
  • Experience with one or more of the following: RADAR systems, manufacturing of electrical systems and testing, and electrostatic discharge (ESD) requirements, Circuit Card Assemblies (CCA) manufacturing to IPC/EIA J-STD001 Class 3 soldering.
  • Past or present member or chair of Material and Failure Non-Conformance Review Boards (MRB/FRB)
  • Six Sigma, Lean, CORE, or American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certifications.
  • Earned Value Management System (EVMS) Certification.
  • Experience with Integrated Product Development System (IPDS) or similar gate management process.
  • Experience in other functional area such as engineering, supplier engineering, or operation
