    Position Summary

    The Planning, Development, and Research (PDR) department is looking for an Assistant Transportation Planner to provide administrative support for the and team. The RTO program creates safe, vibrant and livable communities by providing grants and supporting efforts that increase walking, biking, ride sharing, telecommuting and public transit use.

    As the Assistant Transportation Planner, you will:
    • Grant Administration
      1. Serve as the main point of contact and content expert on cloud-based grant administration system.
      2. Assist in frequent coordination and communication with grantees throughout the grant cycle, including the application, reporting, and evaluation processes.
      3. Develop procedures, templates, and other mechanisms to support grant administration and tracking; gather and organize grantee data and reports for analysis; assist grantees to identify and problem-solve challenges when needed.
    • Communications Support
      1. Manage customer relationship management (CRM) tool, including contact management and newsletter coordination.
      2. Assist in the development of program reports, presentations, and other materials to communicate with a variety of audiences about the RTO program.
    • Program Development and Support
      1. Support the development and implementation of a variety of programmatic offerings in the RTO program's three programmatic areas of Commute, Safe Routes to School, and Community travel options.
      2. Assist in the preparation for and support frequent meetings and events with partners and stakeholders.
      3. Coordinate with consultants, vendors, employers & partner organizations to support program delivery.

    • Demonstrated organizational, administrative, and communication skills.
    • Experience supporting multiple projects simultaneously with a variety of procedures, stakeholders, and competing deadlines.
    • Demonstrated experience or ability to learn software and web-based tools such as Microsoft Suite, CRM tools, grant management software (e.g. ZoomGrants), project management software (e.g. Basecamp), Geographic Information System tools, or graphic design tools (e.g. Adobe InDesign).
    • Experience or interest in transportation demand management (TDM), transportation planning and/or community development.
    • Comfortable in a work environment where priorities change frequently.
    • Ability to act independently to move projects forward and organize work assignments with little direction. Ability to effectively communicate technical information and topical content with people of all ages and from a variety of cultural, economic, and ethnic backgrounds.

    Minimum qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in planning, AND
    • One year of transportation planning experience; OR
    • Any combination of education, professional, volunteer and lived experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the classification duties and responsibilities.

    Hybrid Telework
    At this time, this position is designated as "hybrid telework." You will have the option to work away from the office, although there may be times that coming into the office will be required. The manager will work with you to identify a schedule that balances the operational needs of the department and your needs. Employees must reside in Oregon or Washington to work at Metro

    COMPENSATION, BENEFITS AND REPRESENTATON
    The full salary range for this position is Step 1 $68,016.00 to Step 7 $91, However, unless a candidate's qualifications justify, based on the requirements and Metro's internal equity review process, the appointment will likely be made between Step 1 $68,016.00 to the equity range of Step 4 $78,728.00.

    This position is not eligible for overtime and is represented by AFSCME 3580. It is classified as a Transportation Planner - Assistant.
