Athens Debate, the premier speech and debate academy in the Bay Area, is seeking passionate educators to join our team.

Since our founding in 2017, we have been dedicated to empowering students to become strong thinkers, confident speakers, and inquisitive learners.

Our holistic curriculum focuses on content mastery, inspiring students to realize their full potential.

Role Description:
Speech & Debate Instructor

We are hiring for both part-time and full-time teaching roles with flexible scheduling options:
Summer Teaching (June - August): Teach camps Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 4 PM.
Year-Round Teaching (August - June): Teach from a wide variety of classes with flexible scheduling options.


Responsibilities:


  • Teach classes for elementary, middle, and high school students
  • Lead engaging classroom discussions
  • Prepare students for tournament participation
  • Follow lesson plans provided by Athens leadership
  • Provide constructive feedback to students

Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching debate
  • Experience in debate or public speaking competitions (preferred)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to train students effectively in debate and public speaking
  • Passion for fostering critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities
  • Knowledge of different speech and debate formats and styles
  • Responsiveness to professional feedback and instruction
  • Enjoys working with kids in a lively classroom environment
