- Participate in all aspects of medical malpractice litigation including the following: client interviews, co-counsel communications, factual investigation, defendant investigation, medical research, legal research, expert preparation, drafting pleadings/motions, written discovery, depositions, hearings, mediations, trial work, and support staff supervision
- Collaborate with other attorneys in planning the trajectory of litigation by setting expectations, goals, protocols and managing team productivity
- Complete extensive case-related research into relevant laws, regulations, and practice guidelines to plan arguments and counter-arguments in litigation preparation
- Synthesize legal research and analysis into a coherent written memorandum or brief
- Perform discovery of various electronically stored data and hard copies of information in preparation for litigation
- Anticipate and mitigate potential legal problems to reduce potential areas of risk
- Provide legal opinions and perspectives in team collaboration meetings
- Draft memorandums that are factually and legally accurate, well-reasoned, and grammatically correct
- Represent the professional nature of the Firm by maintaining good rapport with clients, co-counsel, external contacts, and the internal team
- Keep supervising attorneys abreast of case and project progress
- Assist with litigation inside and outside of the medical malpractice group
- Continually develop sufficient subject-matter knowledge to provide accurate, useful, and understandable information and a reliable legal perspective
- Use analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with good judgment to identify potential solutions to legal and other problems
- Collaborate with supervisory team members in the management of legal support staff
- Complete special projects and other duties, as needed
- SC Bar License
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- 3+ years of experience in a plaintiff law firm preferably in handling medical malpractice cases, will consider defense experience
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
