Amani's mission is to partner with immigrant and refugee families and the community, to promote safety, encourage personal growth, and foster a spirit of belonging.

Amani Family Services, Inc. is a registered 501(c)3 organization located at 5104 N. Clinton Street in Fort Wayne, offering onsite and home-based services.

Amani is the only local organization entirely devoted to promoting the well-being of non-English speaking families through community-based counseling and casework, with the purpose of facilitating the healing of immigrants and refugees who have experienced maltreatment and violence and preventing incidents of family violence.

Amani has cared for families since 2006 and it is proud to provide excellent and compassionate care for all.


SUMMARY


The Homebased Caseworker will play an integral role in improving the caretaking and coping skills of client families, enhancing the family's resilience, supporting healthy and nurturing relationships, and children's physical, mental, emotional, and educational well-being.

The Homebased Caseworker will serve as a cultural broker and advocate for client families, and work as a part of the child and family treatment team to stabilize the client's family and to set a path for successful outcomes.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide facetoface services i.e. casework, parent education, and supervised visitation as requested in referral. Direct client services (facetoface) should constitute no less than 24.5 hours of work time per week.
  • Implement an effective social service treatment program for families and children and ensure the referred clients receive the service requested.
  • Provide timely intervention as soon as specified by the referring agency.
  • Call families when possible or send an appropriate letter to set up appointments within 48 hours of receiving the referral for services and assessment.
  • Offer support and provide resources and referrals for followup care.
  • Identify resource information for families and children to assist them towards selfsufficiency.
  • Work with and modify asneeded treatment/service plans.
  • Attend court dates with the family and children (ONLY at the request of DCS/ACJC).
  • Attend Family Team Meetings with DCS/ACJS case managers/PO's as needed
  • Communicate regularly with the Family Support Program Manager (FSPM) on case progress
  • Attend supervision weekly, or more often as required.
  • Complete all necessary documentation in a timely manner to maintain records and reduce liability (including, but not limited to: contact notes, treatment plans, treatment plan reviews, and monthly reports).
  • Record concise notes for each contact concerning the case.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Be flexible to work on weekends and evening hours as needed.
  • Provide culturally competent practice when working with refugees and immigrant families.
  • Participate in Amani Staff Meetings, trainings, conferences, & support agency initiatives as needed.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree required

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require standing and walking for up to 50% of the time. The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc.
  • Driving clients in the car is a required part of the position.
  • Client Homes and community locations are part of the work environment for this position and can include challenging conditions such as messiness, dirtiness, pests, etc.
