    Diesel Mechanic/Technician – 2nd Shift
    $2,000-$5,000 Sign-on Bonus Available
    GTG Peterbilt – Cedar Rapids is a family-owned full service Peterbilt truck dealership serving eastern Iowa since 1973.

    We have worked hard to provide the trucking industry with the highest quality products, sold and serviced by dedicated people to provide the highest return for our customers.

    We have an immediate opening for a Heavy-Duty Diesel Technician in our Cedar Rapids location. The successful candidate will perform service and repair on heavy duty trucks covering all makes and models.

    Manufacturer training and certifications, including highly specialized expertise paths – estimated to be up to a $25,000 investment by GTG.

    Your efforts are rewarded with compensation adjustments for training completed.
    Continuous on-the-job training
    Signing bonus of $2,000 to $5,000, based on years of experience
    Industry leading compensation (up to $40 per hour, based on experience)
    Monthly performance incentive bonus opportunities

    GTG uniforms and laundry service
    Determine unit condition by conducting inspections & diagnostic test, identifying deficiencies.

    Test equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers' specifications; Perform other routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles.

    Maintain cost efficiency by using warranty, evaluating service & parts options.
    Maintain vehicle records with an accurate documentation of service and repairs.
    Read schematics for electrical and air systems.
    Solid working knowledge of power tools required to perform all phases of truck/chassis repair and maintenance.
    Strong mechanical aptitude.
    At higher levels of experience demonstrate ability to perform all phases of heavy-duty diesel equipment and services.
    Good customer service skills.
    Work with minimal supervision and direction.
    Certifications from OEM's in the trucking industry a plus.

    Preferred- 2 years of tech school and 2 years of experience in heavy duty truck repair or 3-5 years of actual truck or heavy equipment repair experience.

    Combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
    Valid driver's license and be insurable, CDL preferred.

    Physical:
    Working in, under, and around trucks and trailers. 250 allowance for safety footwear available after 90 day initial training and evaluation period.
