The Role

  • This position is part of the Newport News Shipbuilding Nuclear Reactor Servicing Engineering group, responsible for providing design and engineering support to service Navy nuclear reactors. Reactor Servicing Engineering offers a challenging, high paced, team environment with opportunity to excel and endless possibilities for professional growth. Reactor Servicing Engineering is well suited for any engineering discipline to include General Engineering, Mechanical, Structural, Electrical, Systems, Industrial, Nuclear, and others. This position (Engineering Products Group Engineering Manager 2) is responsible for managing and supporting engineering planning for Reactor Services Nimitz Class Refueling Carrier Overhaul (RCOH) and Inactivation contracts. This includes internal and external department coordination to develop and submit deliverables for planning, scoping, scheduling, cost estimating, and execution. The manager is responsible for Reactor Services Self-Assessment program which requires evaluating department conditions, providing data streams and exports, supporting continuous improvement, driving corrective actions, and issuing assessments to document findings. In addition, the manager will provide nonhull specific support efforts for the Reactor Services engineering groups to include technical editing, development of job aid resources, standard operating procedures, and other department wide initiatives.   • Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of progressive technical experience in research, engineering and design; Master's Degree and 4 years of relevant experience.
Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.- Security Clearance Required
