Job Description:
The Production Manager will be a member of our Production team, reporting to the Operations Manager.
The role involves directing and monitoring fabrication shop work activities, progress, and resources to meet production schedule and performance metrics efficiently on a daily basis.
Tasks include:
Directing and monitoring fabrication shop work activities, progress, and resources daily
Reviewing schedules to make staffing decisions, work procedures, and duty assignments
Reviewing operations and resolving production problems with staff
Establishing workflow policies for speed and efficiency while ensuring product safety
Performing any other related duties or special projects as required
Responsibilities:
Ensuring safe operation, regulatory compliance, quality, and cost management of the plant
Reducing expenses and increasing productivity
Managing equipment, facilities, and materials for work
Actively managing personnel and processes in a manufacturing setting
Reviewing job tasks with foremen and providing motivation, guidance, and support
Timekeeping for the group
Overseeing a workforce of over 150 employees
Using problem-solving methods to improve fabrication processes
Skill Requirements:
Interpersonal relationship building and employee coaching skills
Logical and critical reasoning for problem-solving
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Decisiveness in decision-making
Leadership and development skills for production staff
Promotion of a zero loss mindset culture and effective asset utilization
Effective planning, organizing, and prioritizing in a fast-paced environment
Adaptability in a continuously changing work environment
Knowledge Requirements:
Standards knowledge for AISC, AWS, and CWB
Understanding of structural steel welding and fabrication processes
Computer systems knowledge, including Microsoft Office Suite
Supervisory HR administrative functions knowledge
Overall familiarity with each department of the organization
Understanding of heavy process welding and plans interpretation
Education/Certification Requirements:
Industry certification for AWS and CWB preferred
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or similar technical field
Reasonable Suspicion certified
Experience Requirements:
7 to 10 years of structural steel or closely related production experience
5+ years of Supervisory Experience in Heavy Structural Steel Manufacturing
Experience with various welding techniques on heavy structural steel
Experience with LEAN principles/Kaizan events
Experience welding and fabricating per AWS D1.1 and AISC specifications
