Job Description

JOB SUMMARY: Under the guidance of the Director and Assistant Principal, the Licensed Special Education Teacher develops and delivers specialized instruction to cater to the unique requirements of students with disabilities.

Essential functions of the job may include but are not limited to the following:

Plans and executes research-based specialized instruction to address the instructional objectives within each student's IEP.
Evaluates student progress and identifies the necessity for additional reinforcement or modifications to instructional methods.
Utilizes various teaching approaches, techniques, and learning principles to assist students in achieving their IEP targets.
Creates and executes annual Individualized Educational Program (IEP) plans for students.
Collaborates with team members and others to develop instructional objectives and tactics.
Manages the provision of special education services outlined in each student's IEP.
Establishes a positive learning environment focusing on personalized instruction.
Serves as the main point of contact for parents.
Offers guidance, supervision, and assessment of educational assistants as needed.
Completes all school and state reporting obligations.

Credentials, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

Minimum Bachelor's degree in teaching, including a Learning and Behavioral Specialist 1 (LBS1) certification or endorsement from an accredited institution.
Comprehensive understanding of effective teaching principles and methodologies for students with disabilities.
Proficient in strategies and techniques for supporting students with emotional and behavioral difficulties.
Capability to objectively analyze needs and issues.
Ability to establish and maintain fruitful relationships with students, parents, colleagues, administration, and the broader community.
Proficiency in relevant educational technologies.
Proven track record of consistent and punctual attendance at work.
