The Neighborhood Developers (TND) is hiring a
full-time, hybrid Lead Grant Writer to take the lead on production and reporting of TND's grants and service contracts.

Organization Overview

Position Summary


Our Resource Development team of six close colleagues conducts funding research, writes grant proposals, stewards donors, manages our contracts, and leads our communications efforts.

The Lead Grant Writer will lead our grant production and reporting. We, currently, submit about 60 proposals per year to foundations, corporate partners, and government agencies, generating about $2.5M annually. This is an exciting time to join our team, as our organization has grown over the last few years.

The Lead Grant Writer is a hybrid position giving you the opportunity to work primarily from home, or in the office, if you prefer, with occasional in-person meetings and events based out of our beautiful office in Chelsea.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Conduct research and explore opportunities to identify funding from new and existing sources.
  • Conceptualize possible grant opportunities in collaboration with the Resource Development Director, Executive Director, program managers, and the fundraising team.
  • Conduct activities to steward institutional donors.
  • Once a grant is secured, support activities that see a grant through its full life cycle.
  • With the help of our Salesforce database, maintain schedules of all due dates, grant and contract activities.
  • Coordinate grantmaking with other activities of the Resource Development team.
  • Support TND's communications efforts. Represent TND to funders.

Desirable Qualifications:


  • A commitment to TND's mission.
  • Three years or more of fundraising and grant writing experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills (required).
  • Ability to manage a large volume of activity and to meet deadlines.
  • Strong data acumen, comfortable with spreadsheets and databases.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Detailoriented, well organized, and the ability to work collaboratively and independently.
  • Responsible, selfmotivated, and able to carry out and prioritize multiple ongoing projects.
  • Ability to work across teams and to handle multiteam workflow coordination.
  • Familiarity with Massachusetts funders. Experience preparing publicsector grants.
