Field Experience Coordinator, Education Program


Classification:10-month, part-time (30 hours per week), benefits eligible, staff position

Job Summary/Objective:


Essential Responsibilities**:


  • Assigns field experience and student teaching placements;
  • Collaborates with Field Placement Coordinators at other colleges and universities on the enhancement of the Education program;
  • Seeks diverse and highquality field placement opportunities with input from faculty, students, and community members;
  • Regularly evaluates and reports on progress and problems in the field education component of the Education Program's curricula;
  • Collects and maintains field experience logs and evaluations for the purposes of program improvement and accreditation;
  • Collects and disaggregates data from field experiences and students as needed for the VDOE and accreditation;
  • Regularly meets with the faculty to discuss the quality, availability, number and types of placements that are in progress and the needs for future semesters;
  • Prepares field experiencerelated reports, correspondence, spreadsheets, and other documents/documentation required for the program, VDOE, and accreditation;
  • In coordination with the program faculty and the director, provides training for clinical educators who work with students in field experiences;
  • Works closely with college faculty member supervising student teachers;
  • Works with the director to maintain a collaborative relationship with the PreK12 school districts in which students are placed for field experiences and student teaching;
  • Willingness to learn more about teacher licensure regulations and accreditation expectations;
  • Demonstrates ability to handle several responsibilities and work under tight time constraints;
  • Committed to fostering a workplace of collaboration and respect; and
  • Ability to work without direct supervision, paying close attention to detail to data for accuracy.

How to Apply:


Required Qualifications:


  • M.Ed. or M.A.T. in Education;
  • Three years' experience teaching in P12 schools;
  • Knowledge of teacher certification and licensure requirements for program completion;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to work individually and as part of a team;
  • Excellent communication skills, public speaking skills, and strong writing skills;
  • Technical competence to work with the aggregation, disaggregation, and dissemination of data; and
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Post Master's degree in Education/ABD;
  • Five years or more of experience teaching in P12 schools; and
