    Description

    Join our team as a Healthcare Unit Coordinator (HUC) at our Cardiac Areas!

    In this role, you will provide clerical and secretarial support to the nursing unit. Check out the responsibilities of this exciting position:

    • Perform various clerical duties such as admission, discharge, transfer, and death processes.
    • Ensure timely attention to STAT orders for licensed nursing personnel.
    • Accurately transcribe physician's orders and notify necessary consults promptly.
    • Manage supplies, equipment, and related forms, keeping inventories at appropriate levels.
    • Answer phones, relay messages, and assist in timely follow-up to patient requests.
    • Assist physicians in retrieving reports from lab and radiology facilities.
    • Schedule patient tests, diagnostic procedures, and appointments as required.
    • Organize patient charts, label forms, and maintain necessary documentation.
    • Implement infection control policies and safety measures effectively.
    • Act as a preceptor to HUC I and demonstrate competency as a Patient Care Assistant if not a CNA.
    • Obtain patient records from external facilities as needed.
    • Manage patient flow and discharge disposition in electronic medical records.
    • Follow established policies, procedures, safety standards, and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
    • Perform other assigned duties.

    For HUC II working in Cardiac Areas:

    • Assign and distribute cardiac telemetry equipment to designated hospital staff.
    • Retrieve and maintain cardiac telemetry equipment as directed.
    • Admit and discharge patients from telemetry monitoring service.
    • Maintain cardiac-related equipment readiness in coordination with Bio Medical Engineering staff.
    • Identify life-threatening cardiac rhythms and initiate proper emergency procedures.

    As for qualifications:

    Minimum Education: None specified; preference for individuals with a high school diploma or GED.

    Minimum Experience: Must hold CNA, MA, or EMT certification at the time of hire or have HUC I, PCA, CNA, MA, or EMT experience with six or more months at a Covenant Health facility. For HUC II in Cardiac Areas, completion of specific modules or telemetry class is required.

    Licensure Requirement: External new hires must have CNA, MA, or EMT certification.
