Position Summary:

The Peer Partner provides a variety of peer support, advocacy, and other recovery services to Wellness Center members.


Core Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Promote member selfdetermination, decisionmaking and self advocacy skills.
  • Screen walkin/telephone calls for potential Wellness Center members.
  • Assist members in developing community living skills and utilizing community resources by discussing common transition experiences in order to relieve anxiety, explaining processes and procedures, and walking members through new activities as required to assist them in their recovery process.
  • Represent the members by providing essential knowledge and consultation to the treatment team to promote a culture in which each member's point of view and preferences are recognized, understood, respected and integrated into treatment and rehabilitation activities.
  • Assist members with housing needs by facilitating access to permanent housing.
  • Facilitate selfhelp activities/groups (i.e. community resources, cooccurring, recovery).
  • Outreach to community agencies and organizations to be able to offer information to members and staff.
  • Reinforce independent living skills and encourage and motivate others.
  • Work with members and their families to encourage and support the members' movement towards independence and selfsufficiency.
  • Assist members to plan and carry out leisure time activities.
  • Provide sidebyside support and encouragement to help members socialize (going with a member to community activities, including activities offered by consumerrun peer support organizations).
  • Provide other members of the multidisciplinary treatment team with information regarding members' progress in achieving their goals.
  • Help update and maintain Wellness Member WRAP Plans.
  • Must maintain member confidentiality in accordance with Federal, State, and Enki policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education And Experience Preferred:


  • Peer Partner must be a current or former recipient of mental health services, which may also include cooccurring substance abuse treatment.
  • Demonstrate some knowledge of mental health resources.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience working in a mental health setting is a plus.

Licenses/Certifications:


  • Valid California driver's license, current automobile insurance, and eligibility to drive for the Company preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • Ability to perform in a positive, courteous, flexible and adaptive manner.
  • Able to exercise independent judgment and initiative.
  • Computer literate and experienced with computer programs such as Microsoft Office Word, Outlook and Excel.
  • Experience using Exym and/or other Electronic Medical Record databases is a plus.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly, both orally and written.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a level of progression toward selfsufficiency.
  • Ability to advocate for members; or to be a mentor; comfortable sharing own experiences in appropriate ways for the benefit of assisting others.
  • Ability to keep boundaries when working to assist members.
  • Able to and comfortable with utilizing public transportation.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements:


  • See well enough (with or without corrected vision) to read fine print, handwritten materials, and a computer screen.
  • Speak and hear well enough (with or without assistive device) to converse in person and by telephone.
  • Finger, handle, feel, and reach with hands and arms, including ability to use a computer keyboard.
  • Have the mobility (with or without assistive device) to stand, sit, crouch, and move from one work area to another.
  • Have the strength to lift, carry or push office equipment and supplies used in normal job functions up to 20 lbs.
  • Stamina to effectively perform work activities.

Pay Range:
$16.00-$26.00/Hour (Determined by Experience & Qualifications)
