SUMMARY
Performs paraprofessional legal services for the District's Legal Counsel (General Counsel and Associate General Counsel.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Associate's Degree in Paralegal Studies or Legal Assistant Program or closely related field.
AND
Three (3) years of paraprofessional-level work in a law office or legal setting or related experience;
OR
Five years of paraprofessional-level work in a law office or legal setting or related experience.
Basic knowledge of accounting/bookkeeping practices and principals.
Knowledge and ability to use word processing (including redaction), database and spreadsheet programs.
Working knowledge of digital recording/playback software.
Knowledge and ability to conduct complex database searches
Verbal & written communication skills in English and a demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written/graphic and oral instructions.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in legal studies or related field
Certified Paralegal Certificate
Knowledge and ability to use legal research search engines (Lexis and/or Westlaw)
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS AFTER HIRE
FBI fingerprint background check
Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization.

Location: Legal Services Department - Broadway and Euclid area
Classification: Supervisory Confidential
FTE: 1.0 – 8 hours per day
Work Calendar: 12 month
