About the Inclusive Capitalism Program


The Milken Institute's Inclusive Capitalism (ICAP) is housed within the Institute's MI Finance pillar, which conducts research and constructs programs designed to facilitate the smooth and efficient operation of financial markets and institutions—to help ensure that they are fair and available to those who need them when they need them.


ICAP seeks to create long-term value that benefits all stakeholders, including businesses, investors, employees, customers, governments, and communities; produce equitable, measurable, and sustainable growth that empowers others while addressing many of society's needs; and enable stakeholders to participate in the capital markets to support both the end beneficiary and the bottom line.


One key feature of the ICAP Program is our focus on democratizing asset management, where we engage in a series of activities, such as: researching metrics and processes for tracking industry activities, outputs, and outcomes; exploring a Inclusive Capitalism "benchmark" of current industry standards around governance; and convening key stakeholders to ensure actionable steps are taken to improve industry hiring.


About the Milken Institute HBCU Program


The goal of our HBCU Strategic Initiative is to build the next generation of competitive and successful industry leaders to adjust the culture of the financial services industry, as it pertains to roles in asset management.

Results will be achieved when there is common knowledge in the industry of the existence of numerous, high-performing, diverse entry-level talent from HBCUs and when that talent is valued and seamlessly considered by Asset Management firms.


Entering the program as they start their sophomore year, fellows engage in rigorous academic program coursework and gain exclusive networking tools.

The combination of modular training and the development of industry acumen will equip these individuals to explore a future in asset management.

Upon graduation, alumni of the program are equipped with the knowledge, resources, and industry intelligence to succeed.


About the Position
The Associate will support the ICAP Program through the following activities:

  • Assisting in the development and execution of ICAP's research and policy agendas, including collaborating internally and externally with thought leaders, policymakers, and practitioners;
  • Compiling, processing, analyzing, and visualizing data to feed into published materials;
  • Providing periodic written updates and summaries of research in defined policy areas;
  • Playing lead and support roles in writing, researching, editing, and citechecking ICAP publications and written outputs, including web content and white papers;
  • Supporting program priorities, including event creation, production, and development.
  • Providing logístical and administrative support, including scheduling meetings, developing meeting materials, and coordinating research and program activities as directed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
