Job Summary and Qualifications:


  • The Emergency Services (ES) Transport EMT will operate on the EMS Transport Services' Team. The primary duty of the ES Transport EMT will be to assist the Paramedic in rendering safe and effective treatment and transport of patients on the EMS Transport Services' ambulance. The ES Transport EMT will respond to EMS Call-Center requests, coordinate with other healthcare providers, and facilitate transport appropriately.
  • As needed, the ES Transport EMT will function within the freestanding Emergency Departments and the main Emergency Department. While working in the Emergency Department, the ES EMT will provide quality care to patients under the direction of a Paramedic or RN, in accordance with the philosophy, goals, and objectives of hospital.
  • The ES EMT will perform all duties identified in their job description, approved Medical Protocols, and departmental policy. Skills will be validated by competency assessments under the License of the EMS Medical Director.
  • The ES EMT will report to the Chief of EMS Operations. They will serve as a member of the Healthcare team through active communication; documentation; feedback and assistance as needed or requested. The ES Transport EMT will attend meetings, education opportunities, and inservices as required by departmental policy, and contribute to the growth and development of their self and the EMS Transport Services' Team. The ES EMT will maintain good working relationships with patients, visitors, physicians, coworkers, and other hospital staff.
  • What you will do in this role:
  • Operate emergency medical vehicle and responds to calls for aid in emergent situations.
  • Evaluate patient condition to establish the right course of treatment.
  • Provide a variety of emergency medical treatment to injured, sick, or incapacitated persons.
  • Perform invasive procedures under adverse conditions.
  • Manage nonmedical situations such as crowd control and protecting the valuables of a patient if necessary.
  • Lift and transport patients, ensuring patients remain stable during transport.
  • Communicate patient data and condition to professional medical personnel at emergency treatment facility.

What qualifications you will need:

Associates Degree in Emergency Medical Services/Paramedic or a Certificate of program completion in Emergency Medical Services (EMT/Paramedic) is required


LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

  • Florida Driver's license
  • Must be active and current
  • Florida EMT license required.
  • BLS-American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS provider issued card required
  • FEMA100, 200, 700, 800 preferred
  • EVOC required or must be obtained within 60 days of employment start date.
