Job Overview:

As the Director of Payroll, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the payroll function within the organization.

This leadership role requires a deep understanding of payroll processes, compliance with relevant regulations, and effective management of payroll staff.

The Director of Payroll plays a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely disbursement of wages, benefits, and tax withholdings while maintaining compliance with legal, regulatory and company policies.


Key Responsibilities:


Leadership and Strategy:

  • Develop and implement payroll strategies, policies, and procedures, including the continued automation of the payroll function, to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and compliance
  • Provide strategic direction, leadership and training to the payroll team, fostering a collaborative and high performance culture.
Compliance with legal, regulatory and audit regulations and requirements:

  • Stay abreast of US federal, state, and local payroll tax laws and regulations, and Canadian federal and provincial payroll tax laws and regulations ensuring the organization's compliance.
  • Implement and maintain processes to address changes in regulations and legislation affecting payroll.
  • Generate and analyze payroll reports for local and parent company management and regulatory authorities.
  • Support recurring internal and external audit processes.

Relationship Management:

  • Manage relationships with external payroll service providers, ensuring the delivery of accurate and timely services.
  • Address employee inquiries related to payroll, deductions, and taxes, ensuring excellent customer service.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Human Resource Management or related field. Professional certification (CPP
  • Certified Payroll Professional) is required.
  • 10+ years of experience in payroll including regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements in a multi state employment environment, as well as Canada.
  • Proven experience in a seniorlevel payroll role with a track record of 57 years successful leadership.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with UKG preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with crossfunctional teams.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks under daily deadlines.
  • High level of integrity and confidentiality.
